How To Launch and Run A Gaming Node In Gala?

Before you set up a blockchain node for gaming, you will need a server. You can either use your cloud or buy a local server. Cloud servers are a better option as you can use them 24*7.

Once you have selected your server, let’s move to running a node on Gala.

Create a Gaming Account & Purchase a Gaming Node

To create a gaming account or purchase a gaming node follow the steps:

• Go to the Gala’s official website
• Create your Gala account
• Buy GALA tokens
• Buy a Gala node license

Deploy a Server

There are several platforms to deploy your server. In this guide, we will launch a node on the Vultr platform.

• Create your Vultr account
• Purchase a server
• Select the cloud compute option on Vultr and choose your nearest location
• Select Ubuntu as your server type and choose its latest version
• Now you need to select a plan according to your server configuration
• Check all the details again.
• When you are ready, enter your server name and deploy it.

In case everything is correct, you will get your server within a few minutes. 

Now enter your IP address, username and password to connect to your server.

Modify the Machine Id

Now connect your server using the SSH tool. 

If you are using the Terminal app, type the following command to connect to the server.

ssh root@x.x.x.x [where x.x.x.x is your Virtual Private Server’s IP address]

Copy and paste the password and click Yes to log in to your VPS server.

Then execute the following commands.

sudo rm /etc/machine-id/var/lib/dbus/machine-id  sudo dbus-uuidgen | sudo tee /etc/machine-id  sudo cp /etc/machine-id/var/lib/dbus/machine-id  

Now reboot your server using the below command.

sudo reboot

Once your server has been rebooted, it’s time to install the gaming node server on your VPS.

Install the Gaming Node

First you need to download the software package for the node.

Run the following code to download the node package.

sudo apat-get update && sudo apat-get upgrade y

To download the Node software package, use the link of your blockchain gaming platform. Here we will use the Gala node link.

Execute – the following commands:

wget-O install-headless.sh https://static.gala.games/node/install-headless.sh

Then click on enter.

Now follow the steps as prompts.

Once you complete all the steps, you are good to go.

After your gaming node installation is complete, the link will be visible on your terminal.

You can copy and paste the link into your browser. Then authenticate it using 2FA and your gaming account login credentials.

Finally, you must save your node.

Once you have completed the above steps, you will have your gaming node running.
